In the latest development of the iconic GEL-RESOLUTION tennis shoe series, ASICS has announced the launch of the new model, the GEL-RESOLUTION 8. Equipped with advanced technologies based on the human-centered scientific approach of the ASICS Institute of Sports Science (ISS), the GEL-RESOLUTION 8 is designed to meet the needs of baseline players, providing them with the advantage required to win significant, dynamic matches from the back of the court.
Designed with the involvement of Gaël Monfils, an eight-time singles ATP tournament titleholder and currently among the top 10 tennis players, the GEL-RESOLUTION 8 boasts unique ASICS features such as DYNAWALL™ technology, which ensures an excellent balance of stability and flexibility, and DYNAWRAP™ technology, a system of frames that cradle the foot and utilize the player’s own momentum to deliver a superior fit. Additionally, the distinctive design of the outsole maximizes contact surface area at critical points for braking, reducing friction during lateral sliding.
According to tests conducted at the Institute of Sports Science, the GEL-RESOLUTION 8 offers 7.2% more active braking force compared to the previous model, the GEL-RESOLUTION 7, allowing for quicker recovery and more stable return to the baseline.
“Shoes are very important. I have to trust them, and the first thing I look for in a tennis shoe is stability. Stability and comfort,” says Gaël Monfils. “It’s well known that I move a lot on the court, and with these shoes, I feel the confidence and balance I need to counter every shot. I have tested the GEL-RESOLUTION 8, and its stability and traction are extraordinary. Without a doubt, ASICS has once again exceeded my expectations.”
Tatsuya Ishikawa, Lead Researcher of the Footwear Development Team at the Institute, adds, “Essentially, the GEL-RESOLUTION 8 tennis shoe represents ASICS’ commitment to understanding the mechanics of tennis. Unlike running, which primarily involves linear movement, tennis encompasses many different movements. Our mission is to focus on these, and with each new model we introduce, we aim to reach an even higher level. We have been producing tennis shoes since 1952, and as playing styles evolve and become more demanding on the body—from professionals to teenagers—our shoes adapt accordingly to meet these demands.”
“The ultimate goal of a tennis shoe is to give the athlete more time,” adds Isamu Oki, General Manager of the Product Management Department of the Footwear Division at the ASICS Institute. “That is, the time to make the critical turn, prepare for the next shot, take control, and gain a strategic advantage over the opponent. The ability to stop and change direction quickly is crucial for this. And that’s where our new model, the Asics Gel Resolution 8 Clay Women, comes into play.”
